Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that the club are close to clinching Sporting Kansas City midfielder Roger Espinoza.
The 26-year-old, who is also known to play in defence, is expected to complete his move to the DW Stadium next month when his contract with the MLS side comes to an end.
"We're working really hard to try to make it happen and we're looking forward to seeing if we can get that one done successfully," said Martinez.
"There are a few steps: there is the work permit, there are certain aspects we need to fulfil in the paperwork."
The Honduras international caught the club's eye during the London 2012 Olympics.
