James McClean confirms switch from Sunderland to Wigan Athletic

James McClean confirms that he has signed for Wigan Athletic from Sunderland in a reported £2m deal.

James McClean has confirmed that he has left Sunderland for a "new challenge" at Wigan Athletic.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan revealed yesterday that the Championship outfit were in talks with the winger after a bid was accepted by the Black Cats.

McClean wrote on Twitter: "Delighted to announce a signed with wigan! Excited and looking forward to the new challenge ahead :) #WAFC

"A lot of great people at Sunderland football club esp the players great bunch that al miss had a great time despite few lows #SAFC."

Reports have claimed that the fee agreed is in the region of £2m.
