Wigan Athletic have signed Bolton Wanderers left-back Andy Kellett for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed.
The 21-year-old, who spent time on loan at Manchester United last season, joins the Latics on a three-year deal.
Bolton-born Kellett, who played 12 times on loan at Plymouth Argyle in 2014, made four appearances for the Wanderers.
Speaking to the club's website, manager Gary Caldwell said: "Reece James is the only recognised left-back in the squad, so it's clear we needed to strengthen in that position, but we don't just want to bring in players for the sake of it and Andy is one of those we have been looking at for a while and we're delighted he's become available.
"Hopefully he can develop here and start fulfilling his undoubted potential."
Kellett could make his Latics debut against Chesterfield on Saturday, September 5.
