Wolfsburg edge past Augsburg

Naldo's goal gives Wolfsburg a narrow 1-0 win against Augsburg in this afternoon's Bundesliga clash at the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg have secured a 1-0 win at home to Augsburg following a dominant performance in this afternoon's Bundesliga clash at the Volkswagen Arena.

Luiz Gustavo got the game's first chance in front of goal when he headed wide in the ninth minute following a Ricardo Rodriguez cross.

Josuha Guilavogui then blasted a shot high and wide just before the quarter-hour mark as the home side cranked up the pressure.

Augsburg then embarked on a period of dominance midway through the first half, as several players bore down on goal to try their luck.

Wolfsburg went in at the break confident of breaking the deadlock after Maximilian Arnold had several chances at the end of the first half.

Just before the hour, the breakthrough duly came when Naldo tucked a shot into the bottom left corner to put the hosts a goal up.

Augsburg struggled thereafter and risked conceding more as Dieter Hecking's charges pressed on goal time and time again.
