Joao Carvalho: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers an inspiration to Nottingham Forest'

Nottingham Forest record signing Joao Carvalho says that Wolverhampton Wanderers' push to the Premier League should act as "inspiration" for his side.

Nottingham Forest record signing Joao Carvalho has said that Wolverhampton Wanderers' push to the Premier League - which featured several Portuguese players - should act as "inspiration" for his side.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who eased to promotion after finishing top of the Championship last season, were helped along the way by Ruben Neves, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa.

Fellow Portuguese Carvalho, who was joined by Diogo Goncalves in moving to Forest earlier this week, told The Mirror that the club's growing list of talent from the country could lead them to the Premier League this season.

"For sure that is an inspiration, what happened with Wolves last season," Carvalho said. "I hope that, at least, we can win promotion and if we can do as well as they did, that would be better – but the most important thing is just to win promotion, however we do it.

"That is our goal. That is the most important thing. But Wolves are an inspiration."

Forest will find out their fixtures for the new season on Thursday.
