Wolverhampton Wanderers say that there is "no truth" in reports linking Gary Megson to the managerial position before the end of the season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved swiftly to quash speculation linking Gary Megson with the managerial position at Molineux.

Interim boss Terry Connor has had a torrid time since being appointed head coach until the end of the season, with a 2-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers serving the latest blow to the struggling side.

Following a run of disappointing results, reports have emerged claiming that former Sheffield Wednesday boss Megson is in line to take charge at Molineux before the close of the Premier League campaign.

Wolves took to Twitter, posting: "No truth in today's Gary Megson story at all."

The club currently sit second from bottom in the table with ten games left to go in the season.
