Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm that their Early Bird season ticket sales for next season have dropped from 14,780 to 12,150.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that over 2,000 supporters have decided not to renew their Early Bird season ticket for the 2012-13 campaign.

The West Midlands club have had a torrid term this season and are facing the drop into the Championship as they reside at the bottom of the Premier League table with nine games left to go.

It has emerged that 12,150 fans have applied for season tickets but the struggling club's chief executive Jez Moxey has admitted that he expected a reduction in sales figures, which was at 14,780 this time last year.

"This is the 11th successive season we have run the Early Bird scheme, and once again this year prices were frozen, offering supporters the best possible deal to guarantee their seat for the 2012-13 campaign," Moxey told the club's official website.

"And while we are disappointed with the final figure, it has come as no surprise either. We acknowledge that this has been another very difficult season on the pitch with the team battling for Barclays Premier League survival.

"We have a lot of debate with supporters over the price of tickets, hence our continued commitment to the fantastic Early Bird offer, but the reality is fans want a successful football team to support and the drop in sales reflects the reality on the pitch this season. To improve supporter numbers, we must improve the football on the pitch."

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced today claiming that temporary boss Terry Connor has refused the chance to have an experienced right-hand man to help keep Wolves in the top flight.
