Wolverhampton Wanderers fall to Hednesford Town defeat

A Wolverhampton Wanderers side, which included Jamie O'Hara and Kevin Doyle, fall to a 1-0 defeat away at Conference North outfit Hednesford Town.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have fallen to a 1-0 defeat against Conference North side Hednesford Town.

Last year's League One champions, who included Georg Margreitter, Tongo Doumbia, Jamie O'Hara and Kevin Doyle in their starting lineup, failed to register a shot on target in a disappointing performance at Keys Park.

The decisive goal came in the 11th minute when Steve Diggin capitalised on a mistake from the Wolves defence before chipping the ball over goalkeeper Jon Flatt from an acute angle.

Two minutes later, the Pitmen should have doubled their lead from the penalty spot after a foul from Doumbia, but Diggin placed his effort too close to Flatt.

Flatt also denied Paul Sullivan midway through the second half, before Margreitter wasted Wolves' best chance 14 minutes from time when he headed over from a corner.
