Jeff Shi: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign players from Benfica'

Fosun International representative Jeff Shi admits that Wolverhampton Wanderers could do business with Benfica as they look to strengthen the first-team squad.

Fosun International representative Jeff Shi has acknowledged that Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign players from Benfica before the end of the transfer window.

During the recent takeover of the club, Fosun International were advised by super-agent Jorge Mendes and his involvement has resulted in speculation linking a number of his players with a switch to Molineux.

Departing chief executive Jez Moxey has stressed that there are "no formal ties" with Mendes, but Shi has suggested that signing players from the Portuguese giants is a strong possibility.

Shi told reporters: "When we chose to buy Wolves, Jorge gave us a lot of advice as to why Wolves were the best club to invest in. Now we have taken over, I think he will be one of our agents. He has a lot of resources in the world.

"I am also familiar with people who work with Benfica. I know the chairman so maybe we will try to get some players."

Wolves have been linked with the likes of Ola John, Anderson Talisca, Pele and Helder Costa.
