Goal-line technology is used for the first time at a World Cup this evening, as France are awarded their second strike against Honduras.

Goal-line technology has been used for the first time at a World Cup this evening, when France were awarded their second strike against Honduras.

In the second half of the Group E game in Belo Horizonte, Karim Benzema's shot came back off the post and rolled across the goal-line after hitting goalkeeper Noel Valladares.

The 37-year-old tried to claw the ball back from the line but GoalControl indicated a goal, awarded to the Honduran stopper, and Brazilian referee Sandro Ricci pointed to the centre circle.

France would go on to win the match 3-0, with Benzema scoring twice either side of the incident.

GoalControl was first used at the FIFA Club World Cup in December.
