Jenson Button has faith in Kevin Magnussen

Jenson Button says that Kevin Magnussen will be able to get to grips with his McLaren quickly.

Jenson Button believes that Kevin Magnussen will be able to get up to speed in his McLaren at the Australian Grand Prix.

The young Danish driver will stand in for Fernando Alonso, who will sit out the race in Melbourne on medical advice following his high-speed crash in pre-season testing at Barcelona.

However, Button has claimed that Magnussen is unlikely to be affected by a lack of time behind the wheel over the winter.

"Kevin has always been very good at jumping in the car and getting to grips with him very quickly," Button is quoted by F1i.com as saying. "That's something that we found when he first jumped in to a Formula One car, so I don't think that's going to be an issue.

"It's always nice having as many views as you can possibly have from different experienced drivers. Obviously it's a shame that Fernando isn't able to do mileage for himself but also for me, it's always good having information from different parties."

Magnussen joined McLaren last season as Button's teammate, but was demoted to the role of test driver to make way for Alonso.
