Lee Westwood has insisted that he is not under any extra pressure to "justify" his inclusion in Team Europe for this weekend's Ryder Cup.
The Englishman, who is ranked 41 in the world, failed to make it into the 12-man selection automatically and as a result he had to rely on a pick from captain Paul McGinley.
However, despite the fact that he has been chosen ahead of the likes of Luke Donald, the 41-year-old believes that he does have to prove himself at Gleneagles.
"It's nice to be here, I don't feel I have to justify my captain's pick. Paul has obviously picked me for a reason and I feel I can slot in to the team," he told reporters.
Westwood has appeared in eight previous Ryder Cups, having made his debut back in 1997.
