Justin Rose believes that he is capable of taking the number one ranking due to Tiger Woods's current injury problems.
After spending 15 months as the world's best golfer, Woods relinquished his place at the top to Adam Scott this week.
Rose, who is in contention to take the ranking from Scott should he win his next two tournaments, has admitted that it is an ambition of his to be world number one.
"It's a career goal of mine, absolutely," ESPN quotes Rose as saying. "I have no timeline on that one, but it's more achievable now that it's ever been in my career.
"Tiger was, at one point, up to 15 average points, which is amazing. Right now Adam's around eight and I'm around six. If I was to win the next two tournaments, it would put me at number one.
"It's achievable and attainable in a very short amount of time for me and, like I said, I have no time frame on it."
Rose will compete in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week.
