Hunter Mahan has admitted that redemption is on the mind of every member of the American Ryder Cup team ahead of the event at Gleneagles later this month.
After being named as one of Tom Watson's three captain's picks alongside Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson, Mahan has declared his intention to end the European domination which has been a common theme in the match since the beginning of the 21st century.
"I think redemption is going to be a strong word amongst all the players," the 32-year-old told reporters. "Europe has flat‑out kicked our butts over the last 10 or 15 years and that's just the way it is. Everyone is going to work extremely hard over the next 24 days getting ready for it.
"We are all going to be mentally prepared for the challenge, because we have a great challenge ahead of us."
Europe have won five of the previous six Ryder Cups.
