Jimmy Walker overtook Matt Kuchar with a round of 62 to top the leaderboard of the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The world number 17 started the day eighth in the standings but carded nine birdies to finish eight-under-par and maintain a two-shot lead going into final round.
Kuchar could only manage four birdies for a round of 68 to keep him two-under-par for the round.
Brian Harman and Troy Merritt are tied in third, a shot further adrift of Kuchar.
Nine Americans make up the top 10 in the leaderboard, while South Africa's Tim Clark sits joint fifth with world number 125 Justin Thomas, who remains four shots off of the top.
