Ellen Falkner has claimed that it was crucial to gain the momentum in the women's triples as England secured gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Sian Honnor, Sophie Tolchard and Falkner cruised into an 11-0 lead after just three ends against Australia, before their rivals conceded ahead of the 19th end with the score on 21-4 to England, and the latter believes that the decision made sense.
"We knew we had to start well and get on top and keep the momentum going. It couldn't have been a better performance from our perspective," the 35-year-old told Team England's official website.
"That's a tough call for them to make, but I think they felt the momentum was with us, we were dominating the game and it was ours.
"We're connected for life now and that is just a bond we will have, which is amazing."
Falkner secured gold in the women's doubles with Amy Monkhouse four years ago in Delhi.
