Team England reigning singles champion Natalie Melmore has admitted that her Kenyan opponent Mirriam Nyokabi Ndungu made things tough for her in her 21-14 win on Friday morning.
Melmore said that the slow pace of the African player's game was hard to be up against, but said that she is now focused on the important clash against Jersey's Lindsey Greechan later on.
"She was tough to play against - quite a slow player, had very straight bowls - and she was quite rude at times to the marker," Melmore told Team England.
"It was generally just a bit of a tricky one but I'm glad I came over the line in the end. You just have to dig deep with games like that and try not to let it bother you.
"[Against Greechan] could be the crunch one I think. It seems now we are both playing well and we have both won three out of three so it will be a good game, I'm sure."
The women's fours are also unbeaten in the competition so far.
