Bolton Wanderers sell Euxton training ground to Wigan Athletic

Cash-strapped Bolton Wanderers confirm that they have sold their Euxton training ground to Wigan Athletic.

Bolton Wanderers have announced that their Euxton training ground has been sold to Wigan Athletic.

The Championship outfit have a £3m tax bill to pay ahead of Monday's hearing at the High Court, where the club could be issued with a winding-up order by the HMRC.

It is believed that the sale of the training ground will cover the majority of the bill for Bolton, who are reportedly close to sealing a takeover.

A statement from the club read: "Bolton Wanderers can announce that the club has concluded a deal to sell its Euxton training ground.

"The facility will now be solely owned by Huron Properties, with another North-West football club set to be based at the Euxton site from this coming summer.

"In the period leading up to Easter, the Bolton Wanderers first team and backroom staff will begin a process to relocate permanently to a combination of both the club's Lostock training ground and Macron Stadium."

Dean Holdsworth's Sports Shield consultancy group is believed to be close to agreeing a takeover.
