Former NFL player JaJuan Dawson has died at the age of 37 following a boat accident in Dallas.
Dawson, who played as wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, reportedly drowned at a lake after falling overboard from a rented boat.
A statement from athletic director Rick Dickson of Tulane University, where Dawson played college football, confirmed the sportsman's death on Tuesday.
"As we try to process this tragic news, our prayers and support go out to JaJuan's entire family," Dickson said in a statement. "The loss of JaJuan affects the lives of so many he had touched and he will be remembered for the remarkable man we came to know."
Dawson, who had rented the boat with his family on Sunday night, was not wearing a life jacket.
