Malaysian politician Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin has sparked controversy after he tweeted "long live Hitler" following Germany's emphatic semi-final victory over Brazil at the World Cup.
Joachim Low's side shocked the host nation by securing a 7-1 victory in Belo Horizonte last night.
On the morning after the result, the Kinabatangan MP wrote: "WELL DONE..BRAVO...LONG LIVE HITLER."
Despite receiving a barrage of abuse online for his comments, the politician has defended his tweet by telling The Star Online: "I don't know what's wrong with people sometimes. Hitler is part of history and the German team fought like how he did."
Germany will go on to face the winner of tonight's semi-final between Netherlands and Argentina.
