Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has been arrested by Cheshire Police on suspicion of driving while disqualified.
The Argentina international, who was banned from driving for six months for failing to provide information after he was clocked speeding, has been released on bail.
A statement from the authorities said: "At 5.13pm on Thursday, March 7 police arrested a 29-year-old man from Alderley Edge on the A538 in Macclesfield on suspicion of driving while disqualified. He has since been released on police bail."
Tevez, who scored the winner in City's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on Monday, could face a prison sentence for committing the offence.
