American swimmer Michael Phelps believes that the atmosphere at last week's Ryder Cup in Chicago was better than any Olympic Games that he has experienced.
The 27-year-old, who retired from the sport following this summer's London 2012 Games, is the most decorated Olympian in history but the swimmer believes that nothing can compare to Europe's victory over the USA at Medinah over the weekend.
"Being able to go out in that environment on that course was something that I have never experience before in my entire career," said Phelps.
"Of course, I had many Olympic team experiences, but nothing compared to last week's Ryder Cup being on home soil. Fans were crammed 10 to 12 deep down every fairway every single day and just going crazy."
Phelps is currently competing in the Pro-am Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
