The Premier League have acquired the services of corporate investigating firm ID Inquiries in order to clamp down on pubs and clubs showing live matches illegally.
It is known that a number of pubs get access to live games from the top flight of English football via foreign satellite systems, but Premier League chiefs have decided to step up their investigations.
"We look forward to working with ID Inquiries as we significantly up our enforcement activity in this area with more planned investigations than ever before," the Daily Mail quotes a spokesman as saying.
"We remind all publicans that Sky Sports and BT Sport are the only authorised broadcasters of live Premier League matches in the UK and that legal action will be taken against those who use unauthorised satellite systems to show Premier League matches in commercial premises."
The Premier League are said to have won their case in the High Court to force six main UK-based internet service providers to block football-streaming site First Row Sports.
