Alan Shearer, Robbie Savage begin Battle of the Backsides challenge

Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage begin the Battle of the Backsides challenge for Sport Relief as they attempt to sit on 45,000 seats at Wembley.

Former footballers Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage have kicked off the Battle of the Backsides challenge for Sport Relief.

The pair are aiming to raise money for the charity by sitting on 45,000 seats at Wembley over five days, beginning yesterday.

The Match of the Day pundits opted to get involved with Sport Relief, which has a whole BBC show dedicated to it on Friday, March 21.

"Sitting here in this top tier, what a magnificent view," the Daily Star quotes Shearer as saying. "The only thing that's spoiling it is Robbie sat next to me."

Savage added: "If we get to the end and raise some money, we'll be happy."

Former Blackburn Rovers player Savage sat on 13,149 seats at Wembley yesterday, which is 19 more than ex-England star Shearer.
