Banned steroids have reportedly been found at the home of Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius, who has been accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The 26-year-old, who has been charged with shooting the 29-year-old model four times in the head and the upper body at his home in Pretoria last week, is thought to have been taken for drug testing following the discovery of the illegal substance.

"Steroid drugs were found at Pistorius's home together with evidence of heavy drinking," The Sun quotes a source as saying. "That's why police have specifically ordered that he be tested for steroids."

Reports have also claimed that a bloodied cricket bat was found on the premises.
