Partick Thistle have unveiled a new mascot, which some fans on social media have described as "terrifying".

This afternoon, the Scottish Premiership outfit released an image of the new mascot, which was designed by Turner-prize nominated artist David Shrigley.

The designer was selected by Kingsford Capital Management managing director Mike Wilkins, whose company recently struck a sponsorship deal with the Jags.

Glasgow-born Shrigley told the club's official website: "As a Jags man it's an honour to be involved with the club in this way. I can't wait to see my design on the front of the shirts and around Firhill and just hope the fans like what we're trying to do.

"It's safe to say we have a few surprises in store for the supporters and we're already in talks with a few other artists to arrange some pretty exciting giveaways over the course of the season."

Following the unveiling of the yellow character named Kingsley, Twitter users gave their opinion, with one writing, "That's terrifying.....", while another tweeted, "OMG seriously? No way man! That monobrow alone is terrifying."
