Philadelphia Eagles star LeSean McCoy slammed for leaving 12p restaurant tip

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is criticised by restaurant PYT for leaving a 12p tip after dining at their burger house.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been shamed by an American restaurant for only leaving a 12 pence tip.

The 26-year-old is said to earn $9m a year in the NFL, but the sportsman only added a 20 cents tip to his server after spending $61.56 (£38) on a meal at Philadelphia burger house PYT on Monday night.

The restaurant posted an image of the receipt on their Facebook page, with the message: "The twenty cent tip that the Eagles' LeSean McCoy just left our server on his $60 check is going to come in really handy for that new official NFL McCoy jersey he had his heart set on. That is a .03% tip. New record!"

Some criticised the restaurant for posting details of the receipt online, but owner Tommy Up has defended his server by claiming that he takes "total and complete responsibility" for it appearing on Facebook.

Mr Up continued by saying: "Maybe Mr McCoy was having a 'bad day' after his big victory all that, but the reports of him receiving 'bad service' is a complete slanderous lie, and my crew here is better than that and deserves better than that.

"At the end of the day, I did what I felt my heart told me to do. And I don't want anything from Mr McCoy, but, maybe an apology to his server who gave him excellent service would be cool."

McCoy's side began the new season with a 34-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
