The sister of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has likened the breakdown of his relationship with Irina Shayk to a "death".
The couple called an end to their five-year romance towards the end of 2014.
It appears that the footballer's sister Elma Aveiro Caires and the rest of her family have taken the news badly as she told Correio da Manha: "Irina is like a death. Suffered from the separation but we have to move forward and overcome. [Ronaldo's] fine with or without a woman on the side. He's happy."
Rumours surrounding the couple's relationship circled when Shayk did not accompany Ronaldo to the ceremony where he was presented with the Ballon d'Or trophy in January.
