Video: Victoria Pendleton steps up training to become a jockey

Former Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton begins working on jumping as she works towards becoming an amateur jockey.

Former Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton has stepped up her training to become a jockey by jumping two-foot fences in both trot and canter.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist announced in March that she is embarking on the campaign as part of Betfair's 'Switching Saddles' challenge.

"So much has changed in these last few weeks it's hard to know where to start," said Pendleton. "Horse riding has become a huge part of my life. It's all I want to do when I wake up.

"I've been working hard with the Betfair team and am now in a position where I'm jumping regularly and cantering with good technique. We've begun to work with a racing saddle and are regularly shortening the stirrups as we fast track my progress."

Pendleton's aim is to earn a licence and eventually ride in the Cheltenham Festival next year.
