Michael Schumacher "can no longer express himself through language," a well-informed source has disclosed.
Felix Gorner, an RTL journalist who closely followed the seven-time world champion's entire career, says he has insight into Schumacher's current, closely guarded health status.
"It's a very sad situation," he told RTL, reflecting on the 11 years since the ex-Ferrari and Mercedes star's skiing tragedy.
"He is a person in need of care, totally dependent on caregivers. He can no longer express himself through language."
Gorner's remarks stand out, as the Schumacher family has consistently kept the full scope of his brain injuries under wraps for so many years.
"There's a maximum of 20 people who are allowed to get close to him," he noted. "And in my opinion, that's the right approach. Because the family is acting in his best interests.
"He has always been completely protective of his private life, and that won't change."
