Jockey Martin Dwyer has admitted that he is in a state of shock after receiving a two-month suspension from the Indian racing authorities.
The 36-year-old was hit with the ban following his failure to lead odds-on favourite Ice Age to victory at Mahalaxmi last month.
"This is unbelievable, and I'm shocked and a bit numb about it all," he told BBC Sport.
Dwyer, who had to be ushered away from the track due to the angry reaction of the crowd, insisted that he lost the race because his horse burst a blood vessel.
"The vets confirmed about the horse 'bleeding' and I even had blood on me at the original hearing," he added.
"I'm trying to get my head round it, but I will appeal against this decision, and will do everything I can to clear my name."
The jockey will have the option to request that the British Horseracing Authority neglect to uphold the ban in the UK should his appeal prove unsuccessful.
