Kauto Star created history at Kempton Park this afternoon by winning the King George VI race for the fifth time.
The 11-year-old, ridden by Ruby Walsh, had won four successive races up until last year, when Long Run emerged victorious.
Long Run was favourite to claim the win again today, but the Nicky Henderson-trained horse was unable to catch Kauto in the home straight.
Paul Nicholls, trainer of Kauto, said: "He's just awesome and I knew we had him in serious order. I don't know why he wasn't quite right last year.
"It was a massive plus having Ruby here today and it's just unbelievable. It's amazing. He's just the best."
Nicholls also revealed that he is contemplating entering Kauto into the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
