Wigan Warriors extend their lead at the top of the Super League to five points with victory at Widnes Vikings, while Hull Kingston Rovers and Leeds Rhinos also record wins.

Wigan Warriors extended their lead at the top of the Super League table to five points with a 33-32 victory at Widnes Vikings on Friday evening.

Anthony Gelling crossed over twice for Wigan, while Logan Tomkins, Lewis Tierney Scott Taylor and Josh Charnley, who added a further eight points from conversations, also touched down.

However, it was Darrell Goulding's drop goal, which came 11 minutes from time and gave Wigan a seven-point cushion, that ultimately proved to be the difference between the sides.

Patrick Ah Van registered a hat-trick of tries for Widnes, while Adam Lawton, Rhys Hanbury and Frank Winterstein also got their names on the scoresheet.

The win sees Wigan move clear of second-placed Huddersfield Giants, who lost 35-28 at Hull Kingston Rovers.

Travis Burns and Alex Brown each earned two-try hauls, while Constantine Mika and Graeme Horne also crossed over for Rovers.

The boot of Michael Dobson contributed 11 points.

Elsewhere, Jimmy Keinhorst scored a hat-trick for Leeds Rhinos as the reigning champions beat Castleford Tigers 42-24 at Headingley.
