Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood given one-game ban

Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood is hit with a one-match suspension for dangerous contact.

Warrington Wolves forward Ben Westwood has been given a one-match ban for dangerous contact.

The 33-year-old submitted an early guilty plea following an incident with Jason Baitieri during the Wolves' victory over Catalans Dragons in Super League last Friday.

Westwood will now miss his side's trip to Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

"We were not backed into a corner but it was a difficult one," coach Richard Agar is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "It was certainly not intentional from Bennie.

"It was a tangle the players got into and happened really quickly, but with the laws at the moment, perhaps arguing wouldn't do any good. Accepting the early guilty plea was the sensible thing to do."

Warrington are currently in fourth place in the Super League table.
