Mike Ford happy with Bath victory over Newcastle Falcons

Bath head coach Mike Ford believes that his team's win over Newcastle Falcons will be an important one in their bid to reach the Aviva Premiership playoffs.

Bath head coach Mike Ford has described his side's victory over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership as an 'important result' in their bid to reach the playoffs.

The West Country outfit maintained their challenge near the top of the table on Saturday as they defeated the Falcons 23-14 at the Recreation Ground.

The hosts were in control for much of the contest, with Stuart Hooper and Jonathan Joseph both touching down to give Bath a fifth win of the season.

"It was a good result - and an important one," Ford told Sky Sports News.

"Last year we were in the top four but never in the top two. After seven games now we are there and thereabouts with Northampton and Saracens. The next two games are crucial for us in terms of the Premiership."

Bath continue their league campaign next Saturday when they make the trip to struggling London Irish.
