Kai Horstmann has said that he is looking to break into the England set-up this season.
The former England Saxons and Sevens man joined Exeter Chiefs this summer from Worcester.
The 30-year-old has claimed that the move gives him a chance to prove himself, with the flanker hoping to replicate teammate Tom Johnson - the only other Exeter player in the England squad.
"I still want to play at the highest level and I still want to play international rugby," said Horstmann.
"Ultimately you've got to back yourself and if you're playing well people will notice.
"You don't necessarily have to pick from the standard sides, Tom's done that and he was arguably one of the best players in South Africa."
Horstmann began his career at Harlequins in 2002, before making the move to Worcester.
