A try from Tim Visser three minutes from time allowed Edinburgh to record a 48-47 victory over Racing Metro in the Scottish capital this evening.
Visser also opened the scoring in the match, touching down in the opening minute.
A penalty from James King and a try courtesy of Greg Laidlaw extended that advantage seven minutes later, before tries from Julien Saubade, Henry Chavancy, Juan Jose Imhoff and Jonathan Wisniewski put Metro in front heading into the break.
Laidlaw and Wisniewski were also in good form with the boot for the respective teams, making all the conversions that were presented to them before half-time.
Chavancy scored another try for Racing seven minutes after the restart as the visitors looked to have sealed the victory.
However, converted tries by Laidlow from Netani Talei, Roddy Grant and Tom Brown put the home side within touching distance of victory.
Visser put Edinburgh just a single point behind with his late try, which Laidlaw converted to wrap up the victory.
