Conor Murray: 'England win best under Joe Schmidt'

Conor Murray describes Ireland's 19-9 win against England as the best under the stewardship of head coach Joe Schmidt.

Conor Murray has hailed Ireland's Six Nations victory over England as the best since Joe Schmidt became head coach.

The Munster scrum-half provided the box kick that set up the only try of the game in his country's 19-9 win at the Aviva Stadium and Murray believes that the result in Dublin "meant a lot" to people involved in Irish rugby.

He told RTE Sport: "There was a lot of pressure in the build-up to it. And to get a good performance and to execute the gameplan we intended to go out and execute is fantastic.

"[A victory over England] was four years coming for me and a number of other players in the squad. So to finally beat them in a big game meant an awful lot to people."

Ireland can complete their second Grand Slam in six years if they can beat Wales and Scotland in their remaining fixtures.
