Steve Borthwick: 'Japan aiming to create history at Rugby World Cup'

Japan forwards coach Steve Borthwick says that the team is aiming to "create a history" at the Rugby World Cup.

Former England player and current Japan forwards coach Steve Borthwick has said that the latter is aiming to "create a history" at the Rugby World Cup.

Japan have won just one of 24 matches in Rugby World Cup history, but are confident of success this year.

"We are trying to create a history for Japan rugby. Japan's record in the World Cup is not good, in fact it's been terrible," Borthwick told Sky Sports News.

"We will do everything we can to have a successful World Cup and to inspire the next generation of young rugby players back in Japan."

Japan start their Rugby World Cup campaign against South Africa next Saturday, before meeting Scotland, Samoa and USA.
