Dai Young defends Andy Goode after London Wasps loss

Dai Young sympathises with Andy Goode after his late miss for London Wasps in the defeat to Harlequins.

London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young has insisted that he will stick by Andy Goode despite their loss to Harlequins on Saturday.

The 33-year-old hit the post with a last-minute penalty kick that resulted in his side slipping to a 16-15 defeat at Twickenham in the opening match of the new Aviva Premiership season.

Despite the missed opportunity, Young is certain that Goode will prove to be the difference in a number games for the remainder of the campaign.

"Andy is disappointed," Young said in a press conference. "It's the curse of the kickers, you're either a hero or a zero.

"But you win together and lose together. He'll win us more games. We showed resolve to nick the try but luck wasn't on our side."

Wasps travel to Sandy Park to face Exeter Chiefs next weekend.
