Wales fly-half Stephen Jones is "delighted" at making the World Cup cut.

Veteran Wales fly-half Stephen Jones has expressed his delight at being included in Warren Gatland’s 30-man World Cup squad.

The Scarlets outside half, who has already equalled Gareth Thomas' appearance record with 100 caps, is relishing the opportunity to get a few more at his fourth Rugby World Cup.

"I'm delighted to be included in the squad and it’s going to be a very special tournament for me," Jones said. "We have a very competitive squad with a lot of talent so to make the cut is a massive achievement."

With fellow Wales veterans such as Martyn Williams missing out, Jones believes that the squad’s mix of youth and experience is a winning formula.

“We have the squad to be successful. We have a young squad in terms of age but these guys have a lot of experience under their belts already at this level, so they are not young in terms of experience.

"We have prepared so well for this tournament, we are all itching to get going."

Wales kick off their World Cup campaign against South Africa on Sunday, September 11.
