Mark Selby wins third Masters crown

World number one Mark Selby beats Neil Robertson 10-6 at Alexandra Palace to win the third Masters title of his career.

Mark Selby has beaten defending champion Neil Robertson to win the third Masters title of his career.

The world number one, who also won the event in 2008 and 2011, overcame his Australian opponent 10-6 in Sunday's final to claim the £175,000 first prize.

After edging a scrappy opening frame, Selby made breaks of 73 and 102 to take a 3-0 lead before Robertson responded to reduce the deficit to 5-3 at end of the afternoon session.

Selby stormed out of the blocks once again when play resumed in the evening, as the Jester from Leicester won three consecutive frames to move 8-3 ahead.

Robertson then followed suit by taking the next three frames, but the Thunder from Down Under had left himself too much to do and inevitably had to settle for the runner-up prize of £85,000.
