China's Qin Haiyang has won the 100m breaststroke final at the World Cup event in Berlin, with Britain's Adam Peaty finishing in sixth place.
The race had been tipped as a battle between Peaty, who has dominated the event for almost a decade, and Qin, who has emerged as a genuine contender to that dominance during Peaty's time away from the pool.
Qin won a historic treble by claiming gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events at the World Championship this summer, and he added World Cup gold to that haul in convincing fashion.
The 24-year-old set a new World Cup record time of 57.69 - well over a second clear of second place and more than two seconds ahead of sixth-placed Peaty.
Peaty, who holds the world record and is a two-time Olympic champion in the event, came home in 59.85 in his first competitive final since taking a break from the sport to focus on his mental health.
The podium was completed by two Dutch swimmers, with Arno Kamminga (59.01) and Caspar Corbeau (59.27) taking silver and bronze respectively.
