Manchester United and Arsenal are allegedly handed a boost regarding a potential summer approach for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

Manchester United and Arsenal have seemingly been handed a boost regarding the potential availability of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

Last summer, the in-demand frontman made the decision to extend his contract with the Bundesliga outfit rather than move elsewhere.

The 21-year-old has since enjoyed no more than a solid start to the campaign, contributing six goals and two assists from his 14 appearances in Germany's top flight and the Champions League.

Leipzig are currently enjoying an improved campaign on the domestic front, sitting in second place in the Bundesliga table albeit five adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.

Their goal will be to remain in the title race as long as possible, helped by the presence of Sesko in the final third.

Nevertheless, it appears they may face a tougher fight to retain his signature during the next summer transfer window.

What is the release clause state of play?

According to Sky Sport Deutschland journalist Philipp Hinze, who was commenting on X, Leipzig could be willing to consider any suitable offers ahead of 2025-26.

Hinze stresses that Sesko remains happy with life at Leipzig having signed a new contract ahead of the current campaign.

However, it is claimed that Leipzig may be prepared to cash in on the player for a fee between €70m (£58.1m) and €75m (£62.3m) should an offer of that level present itself.

There will reportedly be no active release clause in Sesko's contract come next summer, forcing any admirers to negotiate with Leipzig's hierarchy.

Man United and Arsenal were among Sesko's suitors before the extension of his terms, although it remains to be seen whether they would return to the table.

Which clubs could reignite interest?

Of the aforementioned duo, Arsenal are perhaps more likely to get involved in any battle for Sesko if Mikel Arteta chooses to acquire the services of a traditional number nine.

Any bid from United could be dependent on how Ruben Amorim fares in trying to tempt Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres to follow him to Old Trafford.

Chelsea will continue to linger in the background, particularly if they continue to be unsuccessful with their efforts to sign Viktor Osimhen who has publicly stated that he is enjoying life at Galatasaray.
