Julien Benneteau beats fellow Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin in four sets to advance to the third round.

Julien Benneteau has won the all-French second-round tie against qualifier Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The number 32 seed lost the opening set to his younger opponent but came back well in a closely-fought encounter.

Roger-Vasselin began well, with some punishing forehands doing the damage, before breaking Benneteau in the middle of the first set.

Veteran Benneteau increased his work rate in the second set, reducing his number of unforced errors to take it 7-5.

The third was equally close, going all the way to a tie-break that Benneteau edged 7-5.

In the final set Roger-Vasselin had a chance to serve for the match at 6-5, but lost his serve, allowing Benneteau another tie-break.

The 32-year-old won it, again 7-5, to advance to the third round.
