John Isner knocks Andreas Seppi out of French Open

John Isner eases into the second round of the French Open with a victory over Andreas Seppi in straight sets.

John Isner booked his place in the second round of the French Open this afternoon thanks to a 7-5 6-2 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi.

The American, who had lost the only other previous meeting on clay between the duo, broke late on to wrap up the first set.

After that moment, it was straightforward for the big-serving 30-year-old, who dropped just five more games on his way to wrapping up the win.

Meanwhile, Seppi left the court with what appeared to be a thigh injury, for which he required treatment at the start of the third set.

Isner will now face Jeremy Chardy for a place in the third round of the competition.
