Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is motivated by the thought of ending the year as the world's number one player.
The Serbian is currently top of the standings and he will keep hold of that position heading into next year providing that he is successful during the ongoing Asian swing of the season.
Speaking after his 6-3 7-5 victory over Vasek Pospisil at the China Open earlier today, Djokovic expressed his determination to start 2015 ranked as the world's best player.
"You work all your life and you dream about becoming the number one in the world, the best in what you do. It's definitely always the highest priority out there along with winning Grand Slam titles," the official ATP website quotes the 27-year-old as saying.
"That gives me plenty of motivation. It would mean a lot to me. That's why I'm out here in Beijing and Shanghai, competing and trying to get that year-end number one."
Djokovic has won the title in Beijing four times.
