Tommy Haas has booked his spot in the third round of the Madrid Open with a 6-3 7-5 victory over Tommy Robredo on Wednesday.

Tommy Haas has booked his spot in the third round of the Madrid Open with a 6-3 7-5 victory over Tommy Robredo on Wednesday.

The German took control of the first set when he secured a break to move 2-0 ahead, but Robredo responded with a break of his own to keep the set on serve.

Haas continued to dominate from the baseline in the latter stages of the set, however, breaking at 3-4 before serving his way into a one-set lead.

Robredo secured a break of his own in the early stages of the second, but back-to-back breaks at 5-3 and 5-5 allowed Haas to serve for the match.
