Maria Kirilenko has progressed to the third round of the China Open with a three-set victory over Samantha Stosur.
The Russian narrowly took the first set 7-5 while the second proved a more one-sided affair as Stosur prevailed 6-1.
The deciding set was dominated by the 2005 champion and although Stosur fought her way back from 3-5 by winning three consecutive games, Kirilenko broke the Australian's serve to win the set 7-5 after two hours and nine minutes of play.
Kirilenko will face Tamira Paszek in the next round.
