Andy Murray slumps to Gilles Simon defeat

Andy Murray is out of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam after suffering a straight-sets defeat in the quarter-finals to Gilles Simon.

A below-par display from Andy Murray has resulted in a straight-sets defeat to Gilles Simon in the quarter-finals of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

Heading into the match, Murray had suffered just one loss in 13 matches to Simon, but he was no match for the Frenchman who prevailed by a 6-4 6-2 scoreline.

Murray got off to the worst possible start as he dropped his opening service game, and after Simon broke through again midway through the set, he was able to serve out for the early advantage.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for the Scot after he fell 4-0 behind in the second before he hit back to regain one of the breaks of serves.

However, he immediately surrendered his serve for a fifth time in the contest to allow Simon to serve out the match for a last-four meeting with Tomas Berdych.
